Simple ways for landlords to attract tenants this summer

14 May 2019

Renting out property can be a rewarding way to earn an income. One of the leading priorities of any landlord is to find quality, reliable tenants that won’t let them down and to ensure rental properties aren’t stood empty and therefore failing to generate any income.

If you have a tenancy coming to an end and are looking for tenants in forthcoming weeks or months, take a look at the following simple ways for landlords to attract tenants this summer.

Advertise your property in advance

If you know a current tenancy is coming to an end, rather than waiting for your tenant to move out, start advertising the property as available to rent from the date you’d ideally like someone to move in.

From placing a sign in the window, to putting an advert on the online property portals, or on the books of a local agent, there’s several ways you can advertise a property that is available to rent out.

Make the property look attractive

With flowers in full bloom and being such a verdant season, summer is a fantastic season for putting property on the rental market, providing you make the most of the beauty of summertime.

Placing hanging baskets, widow boxes and pots around the outside of the property and putting vases with fresh flowers in reception rooms, hallways and bedrooms, will make the property look attractive to potential tenants both on the inside and the outside.

Keep the house in good condition

It’s not uncommon for rental properties to become unkept and untidy if they are left empty for a period. If there is a break between tenancies, be sure to keep the property in good condition by carrying out general maintenance and repair work so it looks appealing when tenants come to view the property.

If you are wanting to purchase property to rent out or want to expand an existing buy-to-let portfolio, buying property in auction can be the perfect way to get an ideal investment property and for the right price.
